Funnel Cake

World's Easiest Funnel Cake

This really is a pretty easy recipe, and the more you make it, the easier it gets once you get the hang of drizzling the batter in a spiral type shape.

Equipment

  • 10 Quart Pot for Frying

Ingredients

  • ~8 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder (key is to make sure it is fresh & not expired)
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup Nutella Chocolate Hazlenut Spread
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Powdered / Confectioner's sugar

Instructions

  • Start by heating the oil to 375F.
  • In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat the eggs and milk together.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  • Using a small scoop, add small portions of the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing a little at a time until all smooth and combined. The batter should be a little runny - enough to pour out, but not too quickly. If you feel like it is too thick, add a splash more milk and combine.
  • Pour the batter into a squirt bottle. You could also use a baggie and snip the edge off, a plastic cup, an old bottle, whatever you can find that can help you control how the batter comes out while pouring.
  • To make the chocolate topping, mix the Nutella with the chocolate syrup. Add more syrup if you want a runnier consistency, or less if you want the sauce thicker.
  • Once the oil has reached 375, start from the center over the oil and start swirling in a circular motion to make a circle. Once you've got enough batter criss crossed over each other, fry on both sides (about 5-6 minutes) until golden brown. Remove and drain on rack or paper towels.
  • Top with chocolate sauce, powdered sugar, or any other toppings that you like!
