I’m a huge college football fan. There’s not much else in Texas that screams fall than college football and tailgating with a big ole pot of steamy chili on a cool fall Saturday. Football and Chili just go hand in hand together. Texas and chili… I mean. It is our state dish after all. I am well aware that there are no less than 93 billion ways to make chili in Texas. I used to buy the different boxed versions, which are basically pre-measured spice packets. I finally wised up and measured out the exact amounts that I liked and perfected my chili recipe.
This particular recipe will feed about six hungry people, using 2 pounds of ground beef.
I may lose some readers and even some friends over this, but I’m one of those Texans that insists on putting beans into my chili. If you are anti bean, then feel free to leave them out. You can also add other things like diced onion or bell pepper, or use a different type of bean. Whatever floats your chili boat.
